What is Functional Training? 

Functional training attempts to adapt or develop exercises which allow individuals to perform the activities of daily life with less injuries.



Every day we use basic functional movement patterns in our day to day activities such as pushing/pulling, hinging, squatting, rotating, carrying and gait patterns (walking and running) . Functional Training mimics these basic movement patterns using free weights and body weight to move your body in all 3 body planes, Frontal, Dorsal & Transverse, therefore improving daily functional movements.


Functional training benefits a vast range of clientel such as :

  • beginners in training

  • athletes wanting to improve their sporting abilities 

  • rehabilitation clients

  • advanced training groups



Most of us  exercise for 1 of these 3 reasons

  • to  lose or maintain weight
  • to tone up
